Garage Paint Ideas
There are many different garage ideas when it comes to painting and many people focus on what color to paint the walls. But in this article I am going to focus on garage paint ideas for the floor. One of my favorite floor designs is the classic checked floor, most often seen in black and white. I like the checkered painted floor design for a couple reasons:
First, this is such a classic design that you can’t go wrong with it no matter what two colors you put together. When picking out the colors, choose two colors that reflect who you are. If you are in to sports, pick the colors of one of our favorite college or professional sports team. If the teams you like have three colors, use two for the checked floors and the third for the wall. What is important is that you like the colors you choose. If you are a water sports fan, something like light blue and dark blue would be nice. If you are into the outdoors maybe a brown and a green color may be nice.
The second reason this is such a great design is that it is easy to paint and adds a lot more character to the garage vs. a solid color or the standard cement color. All you need to do is put tape down on the floor in straight lines to make boxes and then paint the square boxes alternating your two color choices.
You want to make sure you use epoxy paint for garage paint ideas like this one that involve the floor. Epoxy paint holds up to a lot of abuse that regular paint will not and on a garage floor, you need something strong. So, with a checkered pattern of black and white, you will need to use both white epoxy paint to paint the whole floor and then black epoxy paint on top of that to create the pattern. Make sure you let the first color of paint thoroughly dry before you put the second one on.
If you are the type of person that wants to make the classic design stand out even more, you can add a third color as an accent. Go ahead and get creative with your color themes. In no time you will have a great looking checkered themed garage floor that is quick, easy, and cheap to do.
